What the app does

Kalooki Crew keeps score for Kalooki, the Jamaican rummy card game. You enter each round’s scores, and the app adds them up, applies your house rules, and keeps your history and stats. You don’t need to sign up. If you sign in with email, your games are backed up so you can restore them on another phone. If you join someone else’s table, you can follow their games, get notifications about them, and see the live score on your iPhone’s lock screen.

Kalooki Crew is free to use today. If we ever offer paid features, we’ll show the price and terms before you pay for anything, and update these terms.

Your licence to use the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Kalooki Crew on phones you own or control, for your own use, under these terms. We keep all rights in the app itself, including its name, logo and design.

You agree not to:

• use the app to break the law or anyone’s rights
• try to get unauthorised access to our servers or to anyone else’s data
• reverse engineer or decompile the app, except where the law allows it
• overload or disrupt the service, for example with automated requests
• resell, copy or offer the app to others without our written permission

Your account

You must be at least 13 to use Kalooki Crew.

The app creates an anonymous account for you the first time you open it. If you sign in with email, use an address only you can read: anyone who can open that inbox can get a sign-in code and see your games. Keep your phone secure, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.

What you enter

Your games are yours. You keep any rights you have in what you enter. You let us store, copy and show it only so we can run the app for you.

You’re responsible for what you enter, including other people’s names. Use names the people you play with are happy for you to use. Keep it respectful: no offensive, hateful or harassing names, crew names or game names. Don’t put anyone’s private details, such as an email address or phone number, into a name.

It only keeps score

Kalooki Crew only keeps score. It doesn’t run, take, hold or settle bets, and it isn’t for gambling or any real-money play. If people at your table play for money, that’s between them, and it’s up to them to follow the law where they are.

We aren’t responsible for how a game turns out, for disagreements at the table, or for scores entered wrongly. The app’s totals and house rules are there to help. The players at the table have the final say.

If you say the scores, check what the app heard before you save them. Speech recognition can mishear a name or a number.

App stores and other services

You got Kalooki Crew from the App Store or Google Play, and that store’s own terms also apply to your use of it. For the App Store, that includes Apple’s standard licence terms.

These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. They aren’t responsible for the app or for supporting it. If you have a question or a claim about the app, contact us.

The app relies on Supabase, which stores your games and runs sign-in, Resend, which delivers sign-in emails, and Expo, Apple and Google, which deliver notifications and live scores, as described in the privacy policy. Saying the scores uses your phone’s own speech recognition from Apple or Google. Your use is also subject to their terms and policies, and we aren’t responsible for what they do or fail to do.

Availability and backups

We try to keep Kalooki Crew working, but it relies on our servers, which may sometimes be slow, unavailable or changed. If your signal drops during a game, your scores wait on your phone and are sent when it’s back.

Notifications and live scores depend on Apple’s and Google’s push services and on your phone’s settings. They can arrive late or not at all, so don’t rely on them: the game in the app is the record.

If you haven’t signed in, your games can’t be restored after you lose your phone or delete the app. Sign in to keep a backup, and use Settings › Export my games if you want your own copy.

No warranty

The app is provided as it is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. That includes any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We don’t promise that totals or stats will always be correct, that the service will be available at any given time, or that your data will never be lost.

Limit of our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim arising from the app, the service or these terms is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or US$100.

We aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, including lost profits, lost data, or money won or lost at the table, even if we were told it could happen.

Some places don’t allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t allow us to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you live in the UK or the European Union, you keep your legal rights as a consumer.

You will cover Ackee & Software Limited against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from what you enter in the app, or from your breach of these terms or of anyone else’s rights.

Ending

You can stop using Kalooki Crew at any time. To remove your data too, use Settings › Delete account. It permanently deletes your account and all its games, players and crews from our servers, and it can’t be undone. Deleting the app alone doesn’t delete your account.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering the app. If we stop offering it, we’ll try to give you notice first, where we reasonably can, so you can export your games.

Changes

We may change, suspend or stop any part of the app, and we may update these terms. If these terms change, the date at the top changes with it. If a change is important, we’ll give reasonable notice first. Using the app after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica, and the courts of Jamaica have jurisdiction over any dispute, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in a small-claims court.

If you live in the UK or the European Union, you also keep the protection of the consumer laws where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.

The whole agreement

If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Kalooki Crew.
